11 Feb 2026We’re excited to announce that works are now underway at 1 Appold Street, marking the start of the building's major transformation in the heart of Broadgate and one of our largest projects with British Land to date. Opera were appointed in 2021 to lead a pre-feasibility study, exploring bold options for the building’s future that prioritised retention over demolition. That vision has now moved into delivery, with the major letting to Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer and main contract agreement with Skanska just announced.
The reimagined 1 Appold Street will offer highly-sustainable, best‑in‑class workspace, end‑of‑journey facilities and enhanced external amenity, seamlessly connecting with the Broadgate campus and Exchange Park. Fully aligned with British Land’s 2030 sustainability ambitions, the project targets BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum and NABERS 5+, alongside major reductions in embodied and operational carbon.
